about
Not written in response to JK Rowling, just incredibly excellent timing. And it seems quite fitting for me, as a trans and disabled artist, to be making money off of something like this right now.
All proceeds will be split 50/50 with local Black trans organizations.
lyrics
Lyrics:
Gender in the wizarding world
Just doesn’t make much sense
With magic at their disposal
How could hormones make a dent
In construction of identity
Why care about anatomy
When they don’t know biology
Or share our social history
Lion, eagle, badger, snake
Doesn’t matter where you fall
Lion, eagle, badger, snake
We’re wizards, one and all
I’d rather base identity
On something I like more
Like favorite DnD class
Or which genres you adore
With magic folks especially
Choose individuality
But if we need a binary
Let’s make it “tea or coffee?”
Lion, eagle, badger, snake
Doesn’t matter where you fall
Lion, eagle, badger, snake
We’re wizards, one and all
The most ironic part is that
For many of us fans
Our Hogwarts Houses matter more
Than if we’re cis or trans
Gendered terminology
Just doesn’t fit our story
It’s built on personality
And attitudes towards advocacy
Lion, eagle, badger, snake
Doesn’t matter where you fall
Lion, eagle, badger, snake
We’re wizards, one and all
The difference between
Witch and wizard should depend
On traits unique to each of them
Not what’s between their legs
Witchcraft is a subtle art of
Casting from afar
While wizards are essentially
Disasters, but with heart
So take a look around you
Let’s assume it’s a safe call
Lion, eagle, badger, snake
We’re wizards, one and all

This is a wildly uneven, unpredictable collection. And that is as it should be. From spoken word to rap to singer/songwriter acoustic to hard rock, this has at least one song for everyone. John Gaunt

The moment I heard 'Forget the Girl' on a mix years ago, I fell in love, and I was so delighted to find more music by the same band. Avery's lyrics are a standout in the world of wizard rock, and I don't say this lightly. His grasp of characters and the heartfelt, poetic songwriting and delivery are second to none. I adore songs about canon relationships that give me new insights, and this album does that so well. yourwizardrockresource

A gorgeous second album that holds up well to the high standard set by the first. The sweet love songs are back, along with an ode to Ron Weasley, a gorgeous metawrock song (and I'm not usually a big fan of metawrock), a couple of spiritual successors to songs from the debut album and one of my favourite DH Chapter 34 songs ever, among other gems. The fact that Avery is a songwriting genius cannot be understated. yourwizardrockresource
